Brunch’n @ Twisted Soul…
Sitting just outside Decatur Square, sits one of the city’s newest additions. Twisted Soul, the brain child of Chef Deborah VanTrece former caterer turned restaurateur. Not sure why it took so long to venture over, but happy that I did. Now I just have to worry about my new found addictions as everything on the menu is amazing. Serving dinner and Sunday brunch along with awesome bar cocktails, Twisted Soul hits the nail on the head from service to food.
I recently dined for brunch; choices like White Chocolate Cranberry pudding with bourbon maple syrup and Pimento Cheese Grit Casserole line the menu. Kind of makes it difficult to make a decision. Knowing there is a spin on every option I opted for the Seafood and Grits. A mix of calamari, shrimp, crawfish and crab mixed into creamy grits. Different from any Shrimp and Grits dish I’ve eaten in the past the serving was plentiful as there was no shortage of seafood. Also on the menu Crawfish and Sausage gravy. The gravy actually comes with the Twisted omlette but being the greedy girl that I am I had to have a side just to get a taste and it was great. The perfect addition to my grits.
Other dishes to grace the table were the Southern Marinated Fried Chicken; springer mountain chicken, orcchiette, collard green roll and sweet potato chutney. The collard green roll was as good as it looked, can’t wait to try my own spin on this delicious side. The chicken and waffles, short ribs and the Twisted Soul omelette were also favorites. The presentation of each was enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
